The art collection of the museum mainly consists of European paintings, sculptures, and photographs. Beyond its mission of conservation, the Fine Arts department is above all dedicated to the enlargement, study, and presentation of its rich holdings. The organization of temporary exhibitions completes its activities.
The collection is comprised of prestigious donations, bequeaths, and acquisitions. Masterpieces ranging from the Middle Ages through the 20th century take visitors on a unique and fascinating journey through time. The experience is completed by a space dedicated to photographs by Edward Steichen and an overview the evolution of art in Luxembourg.
