Missed Frank Wilhelm's talk held as part of our crowdfunding campaign about the Champion by Joseph Kutter? No problem! The talk was recorded and is now available online.

Feet on the pedals, Nicolas Frantz was known and loved in the Grand Duchy because he provided his compatriots with many reasons to be proud of their country - and of themselves. Brush and palette in hand, Joseph Kutter had a hard time "breaking through" in his home country, where his official recognition was only posthumous.

The cyclist and the artist met in Luxembourg, in the artist's studio, who then created a very quirky portrait of the champion. The result: a controversial work that perhaps reveals the personality of the painter rather than that of the model. In any case, it is a painting that, 90 years after its presentation in Paris, still raises questions.
