Known affectionately as 'Zeca', Afonso's legacy is inseparable from the historic events of April 25th, 1974. His anthem, 'Grandola, Vila Morena', served as the rallying cry for the Portuguese Armed Forces during the pivotal Carnation Revolution, marking the dawn of democracy in Portugal.
