Ever since the Portuguese community settled in Luxembourg, it has been keen to perpetuate its values and traditions. Folklore is one of these cultural markers, which can be found in various forms in different regions of Portugal. The Grupo folclórico Mociadade Portuguesa do Luxemburgo, founded in 1982 by residents of Luxembourg City, promotes the songs, dances and costumes typical of Viana do Castelo, in northern Portugal. This region is particularly renowned for its rites and customs, so it's hardly surprising that the hand-sewn clothes worn by the group's members come from Viana.
